Asheville Travel

If you are traveling to Asheville to join us for the Kick-off Event in Pack Square on March 21st and
the March beginning on March 22nd, 2026, following are some suggestions.
The Cambria Hotel is in downtown Asheville, across from Pack Square.

For the kick off event, we recommend arriving on March 20th, 2026.
If you are marching with us and are NOT interested in camping, we recommend you reserve an airbnb at Lake Eden for the night of 3/22 and then 3/23 and 3/24 nights in Marion. Or you could stay in Asheville, the nights of 3/20-22 at the minimum.
Asheville to Boone
March 22nd our walk ends in Black Mountain, NC and we will be circling up for food and music at Bush Farmhouse. It will be nice to stay in Black Mountain. Free camping is available at Lake Eden Retreat (site of the infamous LEAF Festival!) & you can rent accomodations on site HERE. No need to make reservations for camping there. Indicate on your REGISTRATION FORM HERE that you are a camper. The Hampton Inn is family owned and THIS LINK gets you rooms at 12% off.
March 23rd our walk takes us to Old Fort, NC and we will be camping (tent camping & cabins available) at Camp Grier. Please click this link to make your reservation for CAMPING and for bunk house accommodations. Otherwise, you can remain sleeping in Asheville, meeting us to start the march each day at the same place we finish the day before.
March 24th we spend the night in Marion, NC. Campers are welcome to book a campsite at Black Bear Campground, where tent sites and cabins are available. Please register now. You select a campsite for up to 6 people for $21 or a group site for up to 12 people for $45. There is also a Hampton Inn, Comfort Inn, Holiday Inn and more in Marion. Mica Town Brewery is ready to feed us!
March 25th we walk north of Marion towards Linville on 221. We are camping at Tanglewood Campground. If you are camping, you will pay once we are there. If you are staying in hotels, we recommend staying an extra night either in Marion or Linville or Boone.
March 26th we go to Linville (camping TBD) and on March 27th we arrive at the top of the mountain in Boone, NC! You could reserve a hotel in Boone for the nights of March 25th, 26th, 27th and 28th if you are staying in hotels, driving to meet us at our “HQ Tent” where we start and stop each day.
Boone hotels are several, including Sleep Inn, La Quinta Inn, and Home 2 Suites. Tent camping and cabins are available at Grandfather Campground, in honor of sacred Grandfather Mountain.
Boone to the Virginia Border
March 28th we go back down the mountain to Todd, alongside the South Fork of the New River. We are being hosted by the United Methodist Church there. We will camp at the church, with overflow camping provided by the citizens of Todd! If you are staying in hotels, Boone is best.
March 29th we walk to West Jefferson. There you can choose between a Holiday Inn Express or Nations Inn. If you are continuing on with us from West Jefferson, our next stop is a campground, so you could stay in West Jefferson the nights of 3/29 and 3/30.
March 30th the Great Mother March is welcomed to camp at the River Country Campground. All activities will be enjoyed there.
Southwest Virginia
March 31st we are hosted by the Peace Pentagon community outside of Independence, VA. We will eat there, camp or stay in cabins. There are fees for lodging and meals, dinner and breakfast. Stay tuned for registration information. Click HERE to place your food order.
April 1st we arrive in Galax, VA, a stop along the infamous Crooked Road. Camp at Old Crank’s RV Park & Campground, where we can get a ppossible group rate as we get closer to March. Knights Inn and New River Trail Cabins are closer to “Main St.”
April 2nd we will be headquartering and camping & singing around the campfire at JillBillys Campground (they are hosting us by donation only!) between Hillsville and Floyd.. Hotels in Hillsville include a Comfort Inn & Suites, Hampton Inn and others OR you might want to stay in Floyd for two nights, 4/2-4/4 at Hotel Floyd or Oak Haven Lodge.
April 3rd is a Friday and we will be so happy to arrive at Floyd General Store for their weekly Friday Night Jamboree! We will be camping at Green Acres Resort, tent camping and “vintage campers” will be made available to us at a discount! We will have a discounted rate available early March, if not sooner.
April 4th we walk to Ferrum. We are camping at Ferrum Park. Please register HERE. Hotels are available in Rocky Mount. You can stay there at least the nights of 4/4 and 4/5.
April 5th we arrive in the big city of Rocky Mount! It will be Easter & we are hosted by a group of churches at their shared event space, Pigg River Community Center. This is sleeping on the floor in the community center kind of camping. They are also FEEDING all the “campers.” Stay at Early Inn at the Grove, Holiday Inn Express, or Baymont by Wyndham. If you are staying in hotels, you may consider staying in Rocky Mount until April 8th, when we get close to Lynchburg.
April 6th We are camping at Wind Vineyard. No registration needed at this time.
April 7th We will camp for FREE at One Forest School along Smith Mountain Lake Pkwy. No RV parking, but vans should be fine.
April 8th we arrive in Timberlake and are being hosted by The Sparrow Estate, complete with a pond, indoor event space in case of wet weather and beautiful vibes on the outskirts of Lynchburg. We will pay $5 cash each when we get there.
April 9th Lynchburg welcomes us. We will be hosted for free by Lynchburg Parks & Recreation at Riverside Park! A selection of hotels can be viewed HERE.
April 10th we are camping at Twin Poplar Farm in Amherst, VA. We have paid to reserve the entire campground. If you are camping with us, you can donate your $10 to $20 on our DONATION PAGE if you choose. Thank you!
April 11th The night of April 11th we are camping at Wood Ridge Brewery (where we will offer the community mural painting & enjoy yummy food, while enjoying their “top of the mountain” views!) singing along around a firepit! On 29 there is a Village Inn that has great reviews. Or you could book your hotel in Charlottesville from April 11th through the night of the 14th.
April 12th we a.re walking on 29 towards Charlottesville. We have local volunteers organizing our stay about 14 miles from Wood Ridge Brewery.
Charlottesville to D.C.!
Cville is a great place to join us for the final leg of The Great Mother March!
April 13th & 14th we are in Cville for our first layover day! Many of us are treating ourselves to a hotel & Fairfield by Marriott Inn & SuitesCharlottesville Downtown / University Area (some of us have already reserved here) is close to IX Art Park. We will be celebrating, learning our Flash Mob Dance (!!!) & offering our community event at IX Art Park on April 14th. Dinner on the night of April 13th will be at Eastwood Farm & Winery. You could stay in Charlottesville the night of April 15th as well. Then, move to Culpeper.
April 15th we put our walking shoes back on and walk up 29 to Ruckersville and will be camping at White Lotus Retreat Center. Airbnb’s are available on this property as well.
April 16th we are camping at Yoder’s General Store. No reservation necessary.
April 17th we arrive in Culpeper. Mountain Run Winery is hosting us, camping, food, our community event—even showers!!! There is no need to register. There is a cluster of hotels close to the winery that include Holiday Inn Express & Suites, Red Roof Inn Culpeper, and a Quality Inn.
April 18th we make our way to Warrenton. We will invite the community to make their mark on our mural at Art Studio 81 on Main St. Camping is being hosted by a local artist. No registration needed. Hotel walkers might choose to stay in the Manassas area the nights of 4/18 and 4/19 (even 4/20). And there is a Red Roof Inn in Warrenton.
April 19th we arrive in the Manassas /Bull Run area. Camping at Bull Run Regional Park. We have paid for two group campsites. You can donate $10-$20 if you like for your camping here on our DONATION PAGE. April 20th we walk along the Bull Run Occoquan River Trail! Manassas has many hotels. There is Tru by Hilton and Home-Style Inn that are close to each other and near the center of town.
April 20th we will be welcomed by Workhouse Arts Center where we will camp (no registration required), paint, dance (practice our D.C. entrance!), eat & engage with the community at this historic site!
April 21st We are SO close! ALEXANDRIA! Stay tuned for details. No camping from here on out.
April 22nd arrive D.C.! We will be celebrating, debriefing and resting together at the Hilton Garden Inn, Fairfax. We have a special rate that includes breakfast (normally extra), so please follow these instructions to access the special rate: 1. Email the manager Moe at mgahche@gmail.com, or call 703-385-7774 to share you you are a part of The Great Mother March and, then, your FIRST & LAST NAME, your choice of TWO QUEENS or KING room and your arrival date (4/22) and checkout date (most of us will check out 4/23).
